About the Department
The mission of the Kenilworth Building Department is to assure the health and safety of the people who live, work and otherwise make use of all structures by the consistent and thorough enforcement of the Uniform Construction Code, as adopted by, the State of New Jersey.
Upon submission of a completed application (including any prior approvals), the Building Department has 20 business days to prepare your permit. The last step includes the permit number being issued and the cost calculated. The responsible party will be notified by telephone which will include the total cost for the permit(s). Our form of payments are cash or a check made payable to: Borough of Kenilworth.
Please be advised: The Kenilworth Building Department is continuously following up on all open permits in the Borough of Kenilworth by sending out Notices of Violations, and in certain instances, Notices and Order to Pay Penalties, as required under the Uniform Construction Code. To avoid a notice, please contact the Kenilworth Building Department and schedule your final inspection as soon as possible.
