If you are not certain as to what to enter, you may use the search key icons to assist you. If you wish to make a payment, you may continue as directed. There is a fee for processing your payment online by Credit or Debit Card and the screen will indicate the cost before you finalize the payment. The on-line payment screen will be updated within forty-eight hours of the next business day reflecting your payment. Do not wait until the last minute as problems with the on-line system will not be an allowable argument to waive interest. If your account is delinquent, call our office before mailing a payment so that we can give you the correct amount due based on when we will receive the payment. The link to the tax accounts is also available on the Borough web site at www.kenilworthborough.com under Tax Department.
Additionally, the Borough offers a 24 hour 7 day a week dropbox for tax payments, located on the basement floor/police entrance. You can find the dropbox on the Tax/Finance office door. Keep in mind, any payments received after 4:30pm on May 10th are subject to interest as stated in this reminder.
You may view the status of your curb assessment account by clicking on the “Special Assessments” tab on the same screen as your property tax account. We are not accepting payments on-line for the curb assessments at this time. Please call our office to get the correct amount due before making a payment.
All payments are processed based on date received and not the postmark. After 4:30pm May 10th , interest is recalculated daily retroactive to the original due date of May 1st. Interest runs as high as 18% on delinquencies. Payments are applied to all outstanding interest first and then the oldest open principal next. Remaining principal balances will be considered delinquent and accrue additional interest. All payments that are returned or rejected by the banks will be reversed and treated as having never been received. Penalties and interest will apply at the time of repayment. If you know your payment will be late, please call for the correct interest amount and balance as interest is recalculated daily.
Payments left or received after the close of business on May 10th will be delinquent and will be processed on the next business day with interest charges. Interest will be retroactive to the original due date of May 1st and your payment will be applied to that interest first. Interest runs as high as 18%. If you are mailing your payment, please mail it early enough so that the Post Office delivery is before the deadline.
If you are making payments through your own bank’s online bill payment system, be aware that those payments are mailed to our office and are not processed electronically. Most online bank payments are processed and mailed from Midwest or Southwest states. Please check with your bank and allow enough time for the post office to deliver before the end of the grace period. Payments received after the grace period ends will be applied to interest first regardless of the date you processed the payment.
